Baz Bahadur's Palace
Baz Bahadur's Palace
- An example of Malwa architecture which flourished toward the end of the 1400's and first half of the 1500's.
- As royal patronage for music, poetry and similar arts increased, sumptuous retreats were built where the lighter side of court life could be enjoyed.
- The buildings took the form of summer-houses, palaces and pavilions whose ground storey consisted of compartments grouped around a central courtyard with pools or fountains.
- Above were arcaded loggias with fluted domes, all the surfaces adorned with painted tiles.
- Other examples of the style include Rupmati's Pavilion, Nilkanth Palace and Chisti Khan's Palace.
